Addressing a press meet held at Manipur Press Club, here, after submitting the memorandum, Committee Konthoujam AC chief convenor Wahengbam Kameshwar informed that the demands mentioned in the memorandum include implementation of NRC in Manipur, removal of Kuki from ST list and halting all attempts to apprehend village volunteers.
He pointed out that there is no sign of ending the 14-month long conflict.
Meetei community was not the first to start this conflict and the Kuki terrorists have been the ones to continuously attack the former.
They (Kukis) Have never advocated for ending the conflict since their objective is to continue the violence until their goal is achieved.
As such, Meetei community has been fearlessly fighting for the present and future generation.
To end this conflict, implementing NRC is important.
Thus, the memorandum submitted to the president emphasises the importance of this matter among others, he conveyed.
Kameshwar also called upon the two MPs to urge Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who will be visiting the state on July 8, to take up the issue and push for implementation of NRC in Manipur during the parliament session.
