Speaking as the chief guest, Prof Lokendra hailed the initiative and expressed his anticipation for a joint meeting with faculty members from various colleges under the university.
He stated that the upcoming syllabus revision would forgo the existing subject combination rules, and also introduce a feed-paper system to provide students with enhanced fieldwork opportunities, which would create job opportunities.
Manipur University adopted the National Education Policy 2020 from the academic session 2022-23, leading to changes in degree certification.
The introduction of a four-year degree programme offers multiple exit options, including a certificate after the first year, diploma after the second, bachelor's degree in third year, and a bachelor's with honours or research after the fourth year.
The fourth-year curriculum is designed to allow students to engage in research projects, dissertations, or internships, equipping them with valuable experience for careers in research and academia, he explained.
Prof Lokendra emphasised that the controller of examinations and different university committees need to be diligent in implementing the new system.
As part of the reforms, the grading and marks of all students under the university will be digitalised.
Each student will be assigned a 12-digit digital ID, and their academic records will be stored in Digilocker for easy access at any time.
The inaugural session was attended by the university s Undergraduate Examination Standing Committee chairman Prof S Jibonkumar Singh, Postgraduate Examination Standing Committee chairman Prof Sumitra Phanjoubam, controller of examinations Tokpam Shantikumar Singh, and UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre director Prof Rk Bhubon, among others.
The workshop was organised with the objectives of enhancing understanding of effective question design, multiple-choice question setting, Bloom's Taxonomy, and different types of assessments.
It also aimed at improving techniques for evaluation through hands-on activities.
