Imphal, September 03 2024:
Strongly condemning the attack by Kuki militants in Koutruk using weaponised drones, Janata.
Dal United (JDU), Manipur state unit said the aerial attack was complete dishonour as well as affront to state government and people of Manipur.
Addressing media persons at party's Palace Compound office on Tuesday, JDU Manipur vice president Kh Loken said the drone attacks by Kuki militants in the past few days have clearly established involvement of external forces arid external aggression.
He questioned the source of endless sophisticated weapons being used by Kuki militants in the more than one year long conflict.
Further questioning if peace has returned to the state and what responsibility the chief minister is taking to control the conflict, Kh Loken accused the present government of failing to protect lives and properties of the people.
He also questioned whereabouts of state's DGP and security advisor and who is taking charge of State's security.
When the attack is being carried out with weaponised drones, there is every reason to consider it an attack on India and external aggression, Loken said and questioned the silence of PM Modi when innocent civilians of Manipur are being killed with aerial bombing.
As the aerial distance between Koutruk and Imphal city is only around 11/12 km and accordingly situation of the state would be much worse if drones with flying capability of 30/40km are used to attack the state, he cautioned.
Even if there is foreign hand in the attack carried by Kuki militants at Koutruk and other fringe villages, the government of India is equally accountable for such attacks, Loken said while maintaining that chief minister should not hold the post if unable to handle the government properly.
He further said that there must equal administration throughout the state.
Meanwhile, a delegation of JDU state unit comprising president Ksh Biren, chief spokesperson Dr Nimaichand Luwang and senior president Oinam Nabakishore left for New Delhi after being summoned by national leaders to discuss the crisis in Manipur.
