MNSA extends financial aid

Manipur Nat Sankirtan Apunba (MNSA) extended financial assistance to the family of ailing Guru Bramacharimayum Gopiraman, who is undergoing treatment at Shija Hospital, Langol.
MNSA member and Art & Culture Joint Director G Dharmadas handed over Rs 16,500 to the family Thursday, stating that MNSA regularly supports Sankirtan artists during illness or hardship.
He noted that since its formation in 2005, MNSA has worked to promote Nat Sankirtan, recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and urged all artists to join the body to strengthen it.
MNSA secretary Yumnam Bhumeshwor said the 73-year-old Guru, a Guest Faculty at Manipur University of Culture, belongs to an economically weak family.
He appealed to the Minister and the public for help with medical expenses.
Bhumeshwor added that details of Guru Gopiraman's contributions are available on MNSA's official Facebook page and urged well-wishers to contribute.
Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee Guru Lakpati, who holds charge as MNSA president, was also present.
