9 Sector AR celebrates 80th Raising Day

Imphal, September 01 2026: Headquarters 9 Sector Assam Rifles, one of the oldest and most decorated operational formations of the Force, celebrated its landmark 80th Raising Day at Keithelmanbi Garrison in Imphal West district on Tuesday.

The Sector was raised on September 1, 1947 at Tuensang in present day Nagaland and has since rendered eight glorious decades of distinguished service in counterinsurgency operations and in safeguarding the Nation's frontiers in the North East.

As per a release issued by HQ IGAR(S), the commemorative events commenced with a sacred Mandir Parade seeking divine blessings for the continued well-being, valour and success of all personnel and their families.

This was followed by a solemn Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Sector War Memorial at Keithelmanbi Garrison, where the Sector Commander along with officers, JCOs and other ranks paid heartfelt homage to the brave martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.

To bolster organisational cohesion, a Sainik Sammelan was organised at the Garrison, providing troops a direct interactive platform with the Sector Commander to express their perspectives, grievances and suggestions and reinforce mutual trust and morale.

The milestone celebrations culminated in a traditional Bada Khana, which fostered deep camaraderie, unity and esprit de corps among all ranks.

On the occasion, 9 Sector Assam Rifles reaffirmed its solemn commitment to safeguarding the Nation's frontiers and steadfastly serving the people of the North East region.
