Jiribam, March 01 2026: A sit in demonstration is set to be organised at Fulertal Bypass in Silchar on March 2 advocating for the creation of a Manipuri Autonomous Council.

The Manipuri Autonomous Council Demand Co-ordination Committee, Assam conducted a press briefing today in this connection at the residence of retired ACS Officer Kangabam Shantikumar.

Addressing the media, Committee chairman Kangabam Shantikumar Singh and vice chairman Konjengbam ongbi Aruna Devi made an appeal for collective participation of Meeteis and Meetei Pangals in the demonstration.

Others present at the press conference include Kshetrimayum Singhajit, convener, Manipuri Autonomous Council Demand Co-ordination Committee, Assam and Dr Raju Khumujam, co-convener, Manipuri Autonomous Council Demand Co-ordination Committee, Assam.
