Manipur police conducted raids in different parts of the State and successfully seized drugs from various parts of the State including Tengnoupal, Thoubal, Kangpokpi, Senapati, Churachandpur and some major seizures were also made in Senapati district recently, the DGP said.
Manipur Police are in touch with their counterparts of other Northeast States and all of them are making combined efforts because many times it is found that those who are indulging in illegal activities have inter or intra State connections.
Manipur Police have been able to make arrest of couriers on many occasions.
Manipur Police are also working to identify the networks which are behind them, who are financing them and who are trying to take advantage of them, Rajiv Kumar said.
The drive against drugs suffered a setback during the past two years and a half because of the violence and police were engaged in securing other things.
Now as some semblance of peace has returned, Manipur police are able to seize lots of drugs with people's cooperation, he said.
Under the Prime Minister's initiative and the Union Home Minister's directive, Manipur Police have been fighting against drugs and they are also in touch with Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
Manipur Police have been holding meetings with NCB officers in Manipur regularly, the DGP said.
Manipur Police have handed over some major cases which involved networks across the country to NCB and investigations are going on in the right spirit, he said.
He stated that the drug menace in the region affects the entire generation and Manipur police are very serious about the drug issue.
The drug items disposed of today were seized due to the alertness and dedication of police, NAB and other security agencies working as a united force on the war on drugs, the DGP said.
He appealed to the general public to contact Manipur Police if they come across or know of any one indulging in illegal drug trafficking.
He also assured that the identity of those who pass such information will be kept confidential.
