Imphal, June 27 2025: A group of BJP MLAs and their allies, including former Chief Minister N Biren Singh, held a meeting at the residence of Bishnupur AC MLA Govindas Konthoujam at Ningthoukhong Bazar today.

The meeting follows the BJP's consensus on forming a popular Government in Manipur.

Notably, Manipur has been under President's Rule since February 13 following the resignation of N Biren as Chief Minister on February 9.According to reports received by The Sangai Express, altogether 13 MLAs of BJP and its allies viz Tamei AC MLA Awangbow Newmai (NPF), Phungyar AC MLA K Leishiyo (NPF), Chingai AC MLA Khasim Vashum, Oinam AC MLA O Nalini (NPP), Kumbi AC MLA S Premchandra (BJP), Patsoi AC Sapam Kunjakeswor Singh (BJP), Lamlai AC MLA Kh Ibomcha (BJP), Moirang AC MLAS Th Shantii (NPP), Lilong AC Abdul Nassir (JD-U), Sekmai AC MLA H Dingo (BJP), Langthabal AC MLA Karam Shyam (BJP), Bishnupur AC MLA Govindas Konthoujam and Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba also attended the meeting.

The source said the grouping of BJP MLAs and its allies may be linked to efforts to install a popular Government in the State.

This development comes even as Union Home Minister Amit Shah had recently stated that forming a Government would be difficult until there is some sort of consensus among the Kuki and Meitei groups.
