More arms, ammunition handed over

Imphal, February 27 2025: Even as the seven day ultimatum given by Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla to surrender illegal weapons ended today, village volunteers handed over more arms, ammunition, explosives and protective gear to the authorities today.

The weapons were surrendered to different police stations in Bishnupur district and the Khabeisoi special commando unit.

According to a well placed source, village volunteers surrendered two SLR guns with a magazine each having three live rounds, one double barrel gun, two 12 bore cartridges, four hand grenades and one bulletproof vest before the Bishnupur commando unit.

At Moirang police station, one 303 rifle, one single barrel gun, one double barrel gun, two 9mm pistols, two Baofeng walkie talkie sets, five bulletproof jackets, seven helmets, four barrel ammunition and one Motorola walkie talkie set were surrendered.

The items surrendered before Kumbi police include three double barrel guns, one single barrel gun, 32 live cartridges of 12 bore gun, 33 live ammunition of AK rifle, 10 live ammunition of SLR, three bulletproof jackets, seven bulletproof plates, two live ammunition of INSAS rifle, one bulletproof helmet, 2 blank rounds of 303 rifle, 54 demo low explosives, six walkie talkie sets and three chargers.

Three double barrel guns, four single barrel gun, two bolt action guns, one 9mm pistol, 5 live rounds of single barrel gun, 31 live ammunition of AK rifle, 30 live ammunition of 303 rifle, one empty case of SLR, one tear smoke shell, five stun shells, eight Baofeng walkie talkie sets along with five chargers, 11 bulletproof plates, three bulletproof fiber plates, one wooden plate, one magazine pouch, eighteen bulletproof vests and 16 helmets were surrendered before Bishnupur police station.

At Phougakchao Ikhai police station, village volunteers surrendered one single barrel gun, nine helmet, one bulletproof plate, three pairs of jungle boot, 12 bulletproof jackets, one camouflage T shirt, one commando uniform, three tube launchers, 3 live rounds of 7.62 ammunition, one live rounds of 303 rifle and one live rounds of 5.56mm ammunition were surrendered.

A large number of arms and ammunition and hand grenades have also been handed over to Khabeisoi special commando unit from February 23 to 27 .

The surrendered items include one 303 modified rifle with a magazine, one country made sniper, one .22 pistol, one INSAS magazine, one bulletproof light fiber plate, seven helmet, one riot headgear, 10 live ammunition of .22 ammunition, 12 live rounds of .38 revolver, four live rounds of .45 ammunition, 63 live ammunition of AK rifle, nine live rounds of sniper rifle, five live ammunition of M-16, one cartridges of pompi, two hand grenades with detonators and two walkie talkie sets.
