Imphal, July 26:
Decrying threat to the principal of Standard Roberth Higher Secondary School by two persons who identified themselves as KCP activists, the students, staff and members of the Van Association of the school today staged a Wakat Meepham in front of the school gate today.
The protestors also urged all concerned to stop kidnapping children and recruiting them as child soldiers.
Talking to mediapersons in connection with the incident at her office chamber today, principal Ph Landhoni informed that two armed persons who identified themselves as activists of the KCP came to her house at Canchipur at around 4.30 pm of July 24 and handed over a demand note addressed not to her but to the founder of the school identified as Pheiroijam Ibohal Singh.
When she pointed out that the demand note was addressed to someone's name, the two armed persons reportedly left carrying the demand note.
However, on the following day at around the same time two other armed persons who also identified themselves as activists of KCP came to her house and threatened her son and brother-in-law at gun-point demanding to know why the demand note had not been accepted.
Seeing that she ran out of the house and pacified the armed persons not to fire.
Although no untoward incident occurred, nonetheless, it was really unfortunate as some of the students of the school were also present at her house at the time of the incident.
Participants of the protest demonstration appealed to the outfit to ensure such incidents do not recur.
Even if the incident had occurred due to lack of communication, the protestors desired that proper communication should be made before taking up any action by the outfit and extend their support to the cause of development of education.
They also shouted slogans like 'Don't terrorise any person related to education', 'Stop kidnapping of young children at once', 'Children are future pillars of the society', 'Make education a free zone', etc.
