Imphal, June 26 2009: In a major achievement for Thoubal District Police, the district police commandos today arrested one KCP cadre suspected to be involved in the murder of contractor Y Krishnadas and one UNLF cadre, who carries a reward of Rs 1 lakh and suspected to be a prime accused in the killing of non-Manipuris at Leimaram.

In the first incident, the district police commandos arrested the KCP cadre suspected to be involved in the murder of Krishnadas during a search operation conducted at Lilong area at around 4.30 am today.

The operation was conducted after getting specific information regarding his presence in the area at around 3.30 am, said a press release issued by Thoubal SSP Clay Khongsai.

The arrested individual has been identified as Md Mujibur Rahaman (23) s/o Md Kayamuddin of Lilong Turel Ahanbi.

He has been handed over to Imphal West district police for further investigation, the press release added.

Later in the day at around 1.15 pm, the district police commandos arrested one UNLF activist, who is one of the prime suspects in the killing of two non-Manipuris at Leimaram on June 4 .

The press release of the Thoubal SSP said that the cadre identified as s/s Sgt Sagolsem Ibochouba Singh alias Athouba alias Yuremba (21) (service No 1951, 31st batch) s/o Budhi of Sugnu Wapokpi Chingol Leikai is one of the men wanted by the police in connection with the killing of two non-Manipuris and carries a reward of Rs 1 lakh.

It may mentioned that driver of Ansal Properties and Multipurpose Ltd, Md Tomba (42) of Jiribam Islamabad and labour contractor Sibajur Majumdar alias Siphai alias Khunkhulun of Katanpur, Assam who were engaged in the construction works of Maphou Dam were shot dead by unidentified gunmen in the afternoon of June 4 at Leimaram.

State DGP Y Jokumar on June 6 announced that a reward of Rs 1 lakh each would be given to those who could provide information on the whereabouts of UNLF cadres, s/s Sgt Athouba alias Yuremba and s/s Kumar alias Loya of Keinou Thongkha, who were suspected to be involved in the killing.

In another incident, Imphal West district police commandos arrested one KRA cadre from Khoyathong, near Pukhri Achouba yesterday.

The cadre has been identified as Khupsosang Aimol Satu alias Khup (26) s/o late Rangparsiak Aimol Satu of Satu village, Pallel, said a press release of Imphal West SSP.
