Imphal, February 26 2025:
The elected BJP representatives failing to form a Government even when they have a clear majority is "disgraceful", said Shiv Sena Manipur unit president Dr M Tombi today.
"They were elected by the people, but they are unable to elect a leader.
This is utterly disgraceful.
People should never elect them again in the future," M Tombi said, speaking to reporters at the Shiv Sena office at Babupara.
He blamed failure to choose a leader among the BJP MLAs for the suspension of the State Assembly and imposition of President's Rule.
"A new Government must be formed.
If their politics do not include protecting Manipur's integrity, then they should retire from electoral politics.
Their political will should be driven by aspiration to safeguard and protect the State's integrity," M Tombi said.
The President's Rule may be extended further after two months.
So, BJP MLAs must choose a leader from among them and be ready to form a new Government, he said.
"They have the number, but they are unable to choose a leader and form Government.
This is disgraceful and it will remain written forever in the history of the State," M Tombi added.
Meanwhile, the BJP MLAs were about to hold a meeting but it was "aborted" .
Asking why the meeting was called off, M Tombi asserted, "How India is treating this State is unacceptable, and as such, the BJP MLAs should take decisive actions as representatives of the people" .
On the other hand, the Governor's initiative to recover illegal arms must be enforced uniformly in the hills and the valley, M Tombi said.
In case it targets only one community enabling the other to take advantage and attack, then the Governor would be held responsible, he added.
