Chakkouba greetings pour in

Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Th Satyabrata, MLAs and different organisations have conveyed their greetings to the people on the eve of Ningol Chakkouba, one of the biggest festivals of Manipur which celebrates familial bonds.
The Governor, in his message, stated that Ningol Chakkouba is a cherished festival that celebrates the sacred bonds between married women and their paternal families, reaffirming love, respect and unity on the second day of the lunar month of Hiyangei.
Saying that Ningol Chakkouba reflects the rich cultural heritage and social harmony of Manipur, where family values and mutual affection continue to strengthen 'our communities', the Governor appealed to all to uphold the spirit of love, harmony and togetherness 'that defines our society as we celebrate this special day'.
Extending his best wishes, Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Th Satyabrata prayed for the festival of family reunion to strengthen not only family ties but also compassion and understanding across society.
He said that the Ningol Chakkouba 'reminds us' of the enduring bonds of love, family and respect that hold 'our society together' .
"Let Ningol Chakkouba renew the sacred bonds that 'connect us' and sow the seeds of healing, peace and reconciliation throughout our land," he prayed.
Singjamei AC MLA Y Khemchand, Thanga AC MLA T Robindro and Thongju AC MLA Th Biswajit also extended their greetings and stated that Ningol Chakkouba is a celebration of love and affection that binds families and strengthens relationships between brothers and sisters.
These MLAs expressed their wishes for the festival to usher in harmonious coexistence among all communities and a prosperous future for Manipur.
Different organisations viz All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO), Federation of Civil Society (FOCS), Manipur, All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) in statements issued by its publicity and information secretary Serto Rengneier Kom and Assistant Publicity and Information Secretary Ngangom Nihen, Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), Students' Union of Kangleipak (SUK), Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA), All Manipur Meitei Pangal Clubs' Organisation (AMMPACO) and Kangleipak Minority Welfare Organisation (KMWO) also conveyed their greetings.
While AMUCO, FOCS and KSA urged everyone to refrain from competing on gift-giving and instead, celebrate the festival in its true spirit, DESAM and SUK appealed to all to choose local products for the celebrations to promote the State's economy.
