Imphal, September 22 2010: Leader of a women's organisation has been pulled up by a team of Imphal West district police commandos for her alleged links with the banned RPF/PLA outfit.

Parading the woman and a pistol claimed to have been recovered from her at Commando Complex this afternoon, Addl SP/IW (Operations) S Ibomcha said the weapon was meant to be handed over to a PLA cadre, who was supposed to offer gun salute on the occasion of RPF/PLA's rising day which falls on September 25 .

identifying the arrested person as one Sanasam (O) Muktaleima Devi (34) w/o S Sobhamenon from Wangjing Sorokhaibam Leikai in Thoubal district but presently staying at Dephailen of Churachandpur district, Ibomcha said the woman was apprehended by a joint team of women police and Imphal West district police commandos from the northern gate of Johnstone Higher Secondary School at around 5.30 pm yesterday.

One 9 mm pistol with a magazine has been recovered from Muktaleima, who is informed to be the general secretary of the Churachandpur-based Ima Leimarol Apunba Lup.

The police officer further claimed that Muktaleima had been in constant touch with one Loya of the RPF for the last three years.

Under the pretext of being top functionary of the women organisation, Muktaleima used to provide information pertaining to security measures taken up by Government agencies against the armed group as well as detail movement of security forces to the outfit, he maintained and added that Muktaleima was actively involved in eliciting support of other civil society organisations on the ongoing insurgency movement.

meanwhile, a joint team of Thoubal district police commandos and troops of 28 Assam Rifles have arrested two cadres of the armed Military Defence Force (MDF) from Heirok area in the early hours today.

A statement issued by SSP (Thoubal) clay Khongsai said the combined team launched cordon and search operation at Heirok areas based on specific information about movement of MDF cadres.

during the course of the operation Thokchom Binod Singh (42) s/o Th Ibohal of Heirok Part-III Kabow Leikai and moirangthem (O) Ibechaobi Devi (26) w/o M Puremba alias Rohit alias Lily of Wangjing Awang Leikai were rounded up from Heirok Pt-III Kabow Leikai at around 2.30 am today, said the SSP.

Both have reportedly confessed of working in the Finance Section of the MDF outfit.
