Tributes paid to Ch Akaba on 9th death anniversary

The 9th death anniversary of Chingsubam Akaba was observed by Meetei Erol Eyek Loinasillon Apunba Lup (MEELAL) and Meetei National Front (MNF, Kangleipak) today.
Floral tributes to the photograph of Chingsubam Akaba, customary rituals and rites were conducted at Wakha Leima Ching (Nongmaijing Ching) while the observation programme was held at Rupmahal Theatre, BT Road.
The programme was graced by MLA N Biren, titular king of Manipur, Meidingu Leisemba Sanajaoba, former Minister RV Minthing, BOSEM Secretary Dr Ch Sarat, MEELAL leader Moirangthem Naokhamba Meetei, Luchingpurel Chingsubam Akaba Ningsing Lup trustee member Namoijam Tomba, Kangla Religious Committee, Kangla Fort Board member Chana Lukhoi, R Suisa Trust vice-chairman Mathankhui Zimik and KM Blooming Higher Secondary School, Khangabok chairman cum founder K Menjor Mangang as presidium members.

Speaking at the programme, MLA N Biren said that in order to continue the work of late Chingsubam Akaba, an exchange programme should be organised for at least two days for all the sections of the people with an aim to strengthen the bond of love and unity among all the communities of Manipur.
"We should communicate so as to sort out our differences amicably and co-exist.
We, as one, must continue to march towards the future envisioned by Chingsubam Akaba and R Suisa," he said.
The MLA further said that leaders should not widen the gap among various communities of the State by advocating self propaganda during election.
Only when the leaders of the State start campaigning for the welfare of the people, a united bond which can never be broken can be constructed.
The MLA added that all should first rectify their mistakes before pointing out others' fault.
Accepting mistakes and makings effort to change for the betterment of the society should be the responsibility of all the people of the State irrespective of religion and community.
Titular king of Manipur, Meidingu Leisemba Sanajaoba said that people of Manipur have been living in peace and harmony since time immemorial.
"We all should uphold the age-old relationship by understanding the differences and respecting the State's unique diversities," he added.
Former Minister RV Minthing said that people of Manipur should acknowledge the sacrifices Chingsubam Akaba and Suisa had made for the welfare of all the sections of the people.
As part of the programme, Meeyamgee Luchingpurel Chingsubam Akaba Ningshing Mana was presented to former leader of MEELAL Ngasekpam Yumjao Meetei and chief of Ichum Kom Keirap K Toneithang (Thoiba) Kom.
Winners of poetry writing competition which was organised as part of the observation were also feted during the programme.
