Imphal, May 20 2023: Kuldiep Singh, Security Advisor to the Government of Manipur would be visiting Kangpokpi soon to talk with the groups and people who are currently blocking Mao-Imphal highway (NH-2) .

Briefing media persons at the Chief Minister's Secretariat this afternoon, Kuldiep Singh said that maximum efforts are being put in to open NH-2 but to no avail so far.

He said that he would soon visit Kangpokpi and talk with CSOs.

In the meantime, necessary arrangements have been made for transportation of essential commodities on Imphal-Jiribam highway.

Around 237 loaded trucks left Jiribam for Imphal today while 68 empty trucks have been lined up at Keithelmanbi for Jiribam.

At the same time, 131 loaded trucks remain stranded at Senapati.

Kuldiep Singh said that he is planning to visit Churachandpur too.

To a query raised by media persons, the Security Advisor said that it would take some time to lift the current ban on internet services.

Nonetheless, internet connection has been restored for essential services, barring mobile internet, he said.

The report that internet services are available at Churachandpur and Kangpokpi is false, Kuldiep clarified.

He said that surprise checking at designated camps of SoO groups and counting of arms have been going on.

Assam Rifles troops recovered 10 Kgs of explosives and 2000 detonators from Bungbal Khullen yesterday at the border of Imphal East and Kangpokpi districts, he said.

One individual was arrested along with one 9 mm pistol, two magazines and 16 live rounds in the course of a frisking and checking exercise carried out by CRPF at Waikhurok under Churachanupur police station on Friday.

The individual arrested with arms was identified as one Pao Raju Kipgen (28) s/ o Satkhao of Juiphai village, Churachandpur district.

In Churachandpur district, the Young Paite Association rescued two individuals and the KSO rescued two other persons.

Imphal West district police rescued another individual from Paona Bazar yesterday.

This is a positive sign, he remarked.Of the 73 people killed so far, it has been established that 41 were directly involved in the violent conflict.

The total number of injured victims is 243 while seven persons are still missing.

So far, 1820 houses have been burnt, the Security Advisor said.

Out of 1070 arms snatched from security personnel, 488 have been recovered.

At present, 42,820 people have been taking shelter at 250 relief camps, he said.

He further informed that AR and CAPF shifted 54 people from Keithelmanbi to Kangpokpi today, 454 people from Churachandpur to Kangpokpi yesterday and 1173 people from Kangpokpi to Churachandpur on May 18 .

Kuldiep Singh then appealed to all the people not to believe rumours but cooperate with the authorities in their efforts to restore peace and normalcy in the State.
