14 KYKL cadres held

As many as 14 cadres of the banned outfit KYKL have been arrested by security forces along with arms, camouflage clothes and tactical accessories in two separate operations at Moirang Kiyam Leikai, Bishnupur district and Kakching Sumak Leikai this morning.
A combined team of security forces comprising of Bishnupur commandos, personnel of Moirang police station, 5th Sikh Regiment and 2nd Mahar Regiment assisted by 8th Battalion CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Moirang Kiyam Leikai area at around 4 am under the overall command of SP Bishnupur Ksh Ravikumar.
During the search operation, the combined team came across 13 youths inside the house of one Dr Parthamani Kiyam (42) s/o (L) K Modhu Singh of Moirang Kiyam Leikai Ward Number 4 in different rooms.
On verification they disclosed themselves as cadres of KYKL (Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup) .
They have been identified as Khwairakpam Rojit alias Chingsanglakpa Singh (26) s/o Kh.
Ibomcha singh of Thamnapokpi Makha Leikai, Kongkham Hemlet alias Thoungamba Singh (27) s/o K Muhindro Singh of Sugnu Mamang Leikai, Leishangthem Amarjit alias Nongpoknganba Singh (24) s/o (L) L Kunjo singh of Ningthoukhong ward number 2, Khwairakpam Bikram alias Rex Singh (42) s/o (L) Kh Narahari Singh of Nachou ward Number 5, Soibam Deepak Singh (33) s/o S Bhogen of Yurembam Maning Leikai, Laishram Indrakumar alias Boi alias Nganba Meitei (36) s/o (L) Tombiyai of Itham Maning Leikai, Konthoujam Swamajit alias Thoujan Singh (36) s/o K Jiten singh of Lamphel Khunou and Heisnam Premananda alias Rocky Meitei (33) s/o H Shyambabu Singh of Thanga Khunjem Leikai.
The others are Khundongbam Nimai Singh (29) s/o Kh Jaramching of Heirok Part III, Naorem Amarjit alias Thanil Singh (28) s/o (L) N Biren Singh of Sugnu Awang Leikai, Abujam Ringku alias Thawairakpa Meitei (24) s/o A Apabi Singh of Sugnu Makha Leikai, Moirangthem Inao alias Robin Singh (44) s/o (L) M Ratan Singh of Moirang Khunou Khongnangkhong and Huirongbam Ibomcha alias Athoi alias Pammel Meitei (18) s/o H Inao of Lousangkhong Mayai Leikai.
They disclosed that they were actively involved in extortion of money from the general public for their party.
They were arrested by observing necessary formalities, said sources.
The combined team also recovered four walkie talkie chargers and three walkie talkie sets, 31 pairs of jungle boots, some live ammunition of different arms, seven mobile phones, camouflage clothes and tactical accessories etc.
The arrested cadres were handed over to Moirang police station along with the seized items for further investigation and necessary legal action, said the sources.
One more KYKL cadre identified as Mayanglambam Kiran Singh alias Tikendrajit (43) s/o late M Nimai of Kakching Sumak Leikai was arrested by Kakching district commandos from his locality.
Kiran disclosed that he is an active cadre of KYKL and currently serving as Corporal.
He further disclosed that he works under the command of one self styled 2nd Lieutenant Premjit of the outfit.
Kiran was later handed over to Kakching police station.
On the other hand, another combined team of State and Central security forces recovered arms and ammunition from a secluded area of Singtom village, Kakching district this morning.
According to the source acting on their reliable information about the caching of arms and ammunition in Singtom village by unknown armed miscreant.
A combined team of Kakching district commando, personnel of Sugnu police station, a platoon of 6th battalion BSF, one column each of 46 Assam Rifles and Mahar Regiment launched a cordon and search operation at Singtom village.
During the search operation, the combined team recovered arms and ammunition concealed in an empty rice bag and a black polythene bag were recovered from a secluded area of Singtom village.
The recovered arms and ammunition included one SLR without magazine, one single barrel gun, one local made pompi (pipe bomb launcher), three hand grenades without detonators, two BAOFENG handset, eight tear gas smoke shells, four empty cartridges of 12 bore, three live rounds of SLR, four empty cases of AK rifle, two empty cases of INSAS rifle, three empty case of SLR, three IED (weighing 8 Kg approximately), one camouflage T-shirt, one pair of jungle boots, one bullet proof vest, one empty rice bag and one black polythene.
The recovered items were seized on the spot by observing necessary formalities and handed over to Sugnu police station for further investigation and necessary legal action, said the sources.
