NIA submits documents on aerial bombing

National Investigation Agency (NIA) has submitted documents and other articles before the Special Court NIA Manipur in connection with the aerial bombing using drone by Kuki militants at Koutruk and Kadangband village, Imphal West under Lamsang police station on September 1, 2024 .
Earlier On December 5, NIA Imphal Branch had submitted seizure memo and audio-video recordings of the crime scene before the same Court which were collected while investigating the drone bombing by Kuki militants at Koutruk and Kadangband village.
An application was filed by the NIA under section 105 BNSS praying for submission of production cum seizure memo along with documents seized during further investigation of the case.
Based on the information received on September 1, 2024 at 2.18 pm that some unknown Kuki militants attacked Koutruk village at about 2.06 pm using sophisticated weapons and dropping grenade bombs from flying drones and the incident led to the death of one lady, aged about 31 years and her 9 years old daughter sustained severe injuries, a case was registered against the unknown Kuki militants for investigation, a special PP of NIA submitted.
The Special PP further submitted that in compliance with the order of the Ministry of Home Affairs, NIA registered an FIR.
During the course of investigation, the statement of the complainant, a Sub Inspector of Lamsang police station, was recorded and the deceased was identified as Ngangbam Surbala Devi (31) w/o Ng Ingo of Phayeng Umang Leikai, Imphal West District.
Thorough crime scene inspection was conducted on September 2, 2024 at the place of occurrence ie at the parental house of the deceased located at Koutruk Mathak Leikai with a team of Mobile Forensic Unit, Imphal West, under video and photography coverage.
NIA further submitted that, based on the Special NIA Court Manipur order September 19, 2024, the case dockets, copy of case records along with the seized exhibits were transferred to the present Court.
The Special PP said that the NIA had collected documents and other articles and thus prayed for allowing submission of production cum seizure memo along with documents to the Court.
The Special Court, on perusal of the application of NIA along with the relevant documents and after hearing the submission of the Special PP, allowed submission of documents and other articles.
