Imphal/Senapati, April 19 2026:
Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho has strongly condemned the "heinous and barbaric killing" of two civilians at TM Kasom village yesterday, and has written to the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) assuring appropriate actions on its demands and hand over the case to the NIA.
"I am profoundly outraged by the barbaric killing of two innocent civilians and the grievous injuries sustained by several others yesterday at TM Kasom village, Ukhrul district.
I condemn this heinous act in the strongest terms," said Dikho in a statement.
"It is heart-wrenching that this atrocity occurred just twelve hours after I visited the Ukhrul district with the Hon'ble Chief Minister.
Having witnessed the people's genuine desire for peace, normalcy and progress, this calculated brutality is a bitter betrayal of the thirst and hope of every peace-loving citizen.
This is a desperate attempt to derail the popular Government, but the resolve of our Government and the will of the people will prevail," said the Deputy Chief Minister.
Dikho said the Government will not rest until those responsible for the attack are booked under the law of the land.
"Our commitment to protecting every life remains steadfast, and we will double our efforts to safeguard the peace we have worked so hard to restore," he said, extending condolences to the bereaved families.
"I share your grief and stand in total solidarity with the community at large.
I earnestly appeal to the citizens of Ukhrul District and the people of Manipur to maintain calm and restrain.
We must stand united to reject this culture of violence and prove that our spirit of brotherhood is far stronger than the hatred of those who seek to tear us apart," Dikho added.
In his letter addressed to Sword Vashum, president of the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), Dikho assured that the case will be immediately handed over to the NIA.
The case will be immediately handed over to the NIA, ex-gratia will be paid to the next of kin of the deceased and compassionate appointment of a service to the nearest kin will be made, Dikho said.
He also assured all necessary medical assistance to those injured in the incident and compensation for the damaged vehicles and properties.
