Ukhrul, April 18 2026:
In a strongly worded statement, Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) president Sword Vashum has categorically stated that tears of the families of the two innocent civilians killed in an ambush by Kuki militants today will not go in vain but will be responded befittingly.
Briefing media persons at district hospital, Ukhrul, the TNL president stated that the tears of the victim families will not go in vain but will be responded befittingly.
He said that an emergency assembly of Tangkhul Long will be convened within 3-4 days in order to chart out a decisive and appropriate future course of action.
"We all are aware of the tragic incident of TM Kasom, where two of our Tangkhul heroes laid their life to the treacherous, brutal and cold blooded murder in the hands of blood thirsty Kuki militants", Sword Vashum said.
Taking note of Chief Minister Y Khemchand's visit to Ukhrul yesterday, the TNL president said both the State and Central Governments are equally responsible for the loss of the two innocent lives.
The State Government is accountable to the people of Ukhrul and Kamjong districts, he said.
According to him, the TNL has been warning and telling the State Government to provide adequate security for ensuring public safety.
However, the incident at TM Kasom has clearly shown the State Government's failure to pay heed to the warning, he said.
The TNL has also demanded concrete action from the Government so that no such violent incidents happen again in the district.
Sword vashum also extended solidarity with the two bereaved families, and assured all possible support from the organization.
