Imphal, April 18 2025:
BJP has rejected the Congress party's allegation of the party (BJP) using the Enforcement Directorate (ED) as a political tool to file chargesheet against Congress leaders in connection with the National Herald case.
Speaking to media persons at Thambal Shanglen here today, BJP Manipur Pradesh vice-president N Nimbus said that the National Herald case was registered after a PIL was filed by Dr Subramaniam Swami in 2012 when there was a Congress Government at the Centre led by Dr Manmohan Singh.
The National Herald case did not surface after the BJP Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was formed at the Centre.
The ED was not set up during the BJP Government.
It was there since a long time back, Nimbus said.

The ED was set up a long time back to check corruption across the country and it filed a chargesheet in connection with the National Herald case on April 15 .
Saying that the matter would be heard at the Supreme Court on April 25, the BJP Manipur Pradesh vice president appealed to all to respect whatever judgement passed by the apex Court.
But BJP would not accept Congress party's attempts to cover up their wrongdoings, he added.
There were so many scams when Congress party was in power at the Centre including 2G Scam, Coalgate Scam, Commonwealth Games Scam etc, Nimbus said.
A group called Associated Journal Limited (AJL) was formed in 1938 and it published three newspapers viz; National Herald (English), Navjeevan (Hindi) and Qaumi Awaz (Urdu) out of donations made by Indian Nationalists who were struggling for independence of India under the leadership of Jawaharlal Nehru.
As the newspapers ran into huge losses, they were closed down in 2008, Nimbus said.
Congress party adopted AJL in 2010.In its place, Young Indian Limited was formed with Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi holding around 76 per cent of its shares.
Congress leaders Oscar Fernandes and Motilal Vora too had some shares in the Young Indian Limited, he added.
BJP MLA and spokesman Kh Ibomcha said that the Supreme Court is the highest Court of the country and BJP cannot file fabricated charges at the apex Court just because it is in power.
The Congress party invested a huge amount in the National Herald in the form of loans.
This is something unconventional and unwarranted, he said.
Congress party has been making an uproar after ED has filed chargesheet against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi at the Supreme Court for they fear that all their wrongdoings may be exposed, he said.
