On the occasion of observing the 8th Reformation Day of KLO/KLA somewhere in Saikul sub-division today, commander-in-chief of the outfit Timothy has proclaimed that KLA would start action against NSCN (I-M) in case the latter fails to surrender all the 12 arms taken after killing 10 KLA cadres at Hundung some months back and ex-gratia amount not given to the bereaved families in accordance with Kuki customary law within January 15, 2008.The commander-in-chief maintained that the action of killing 10 KLA cadres by NSCN (I-M) after a joint feasting like friends is not just betrayal of KLA alone but also of all other underground organisations in the world.

If the arms taken were not handed over and the due ex-gratia amount not paid to the bereaved families as per Kuki customary law within the set deadline of January 15, 2008, KLA might be constraint to strike against NSCN (I-M), Timothy said, adding categorically that NSCN (I-M) should bear the responsibility of any consequences in the event of spurt of clashes between the Tangkhuls and the Kukis as a result of this.
Stating that Suspension of Operation signed between KLO/KLA and India army in 2006 is still in effect, the commander-in-chief said that KLA would continue to fight for Kuki nation till the lost sovereignty is restored.
On the significance of the observance, Timothy said KLO/KLA was set up in 2000 by late Letkholun Hanghal alias Lenin after bringing together various factions of the party.
During his lifetime, Letkholun had fought not only against the Indian army for the cause of Kuki nation but had also set up a school at L Molnom Village for education of destitute children and playgrounds in different parts.
It was also during his time that Letkholun pulled up Ansar Ali and his other gang members involved in harassing women and children in Thoubal area.
Unfortunately, he was killed in May 2007 by some people who have been rusticated from KLA because of their misconduct and self-interest, Timothy said.
While conveying that his appointment as the commander-in-chief of KLO/KLA was in accordance to a decision of the central working committee of the outfit, Timothy informed that Robinson Khongsai has also been appointed as the deputy commander in-chief over and above his financial duty and Addy Kuki as the publicity secretary.
