Imphal, May 14 2015 : A gunfight reportedly took place between cadres of ZUF and a rival armed group today morning at Khoupum area, Tamenglong district.

No casualty was reported though.

Meanwhile, the ZUF in a statement issued by its publicity secretary, A Longmei said that the outfit's armed wing ZTF cadres and a combined force of NSCN(IM) and 2/4 GR were engaged in a shoot out in Khoupum area this morning.

The ZUF has accused the security forces of providing security to the NSCN-IM cadres who have been moving freely in Nungba and Taosang areas.

It also asked the intention of the security forces in giving protection to secessionist NSCN-IM and hunting ZUF cadres who are struggling for their rights under the Constitution of India.

It added that the outfit would not be dismayed by any propaganda and activities targeting the ZUF and Ze-liangrong and their kindred tribes.

Earlier too, there were many instances of gun fight between rival UG groups in the district.
