Imphal, December 13 2008:
Considered to be one of the best sellers, Khengjoi Chingshangda, a travelogue originally written in Manipuri by Sagolsem Hemant has been translated in English by Bhabendra Longjamba as Far Beyond in Misty Hills an unforgettable trip to meet a rebel leader.
|
The travelogue recounted the journey undertaken by a team of thirteen newsmen based in Manipur and other cities of India in May 2006 to the remote Khengjoi hill range of Manipur's Chandel district bordering Myanmar to meet the leader of UNLF.
The travelogue vividly captured memorable scenes from the daily lives of insurgents and poverty-stricken natives who dwell along the hill range.
Published by Ibohal Kshetrimayum for Eikhoigee Panthung, the English translation of the travelogue containing 167 pages has been printed at BCD Modern Offset, Shillong.
The photographs of the cover designs contributed by Santosh, Sanzu and Inaocha.
