Ibobi talks tough, says tolerance capacity exhausted

Imphal, July 13 2014: Without taking the name of any UG outfit but implicitly referring to NSCN-IM, Chief Minister O Ibobi has categorically stated that it's time to demonstrate there is rule of law and teach them a befitting lesson.

The State Government has been holding its hands back in view of the peace talk being negotiated with the Government of India.

But their unlawful and criminal activities have crossed all limits and the State Government has exhausted all its capacity of tolerance.

Speaking to media persons during an inspection tour of the Sanjenthong bridge construction work and other construction projects, Ibobi stated that massive search operation involving 200 commando personnel and 400 MR/IRB personnel was launched at the ambush site after ADC Member Ngalangzar was shot dead there.

Moreover, seven/eight cadres suspected to have been involved in the attack have been arrested.

They have been brought to Imphal for interrogation.

The State Government restrained itself in the interest of the ongoing peace talk between the outfit and the Government of India but now the time is over for the State Government to remain a mute spectator.

They would be taught a befitting lesson without fail, Ibobi stated.

The State Government is well prepared to tackle such elements.

A report on the assassination of the ADC Member would be sent to the Centre today itself followed by another report tomorrow on the steps taken up by the State Government.

On being enquired about the recent spate of bomb explosions in the valley, Ibobi condemned such activities as sheer insanity.

All the UG groups based in both the hills and valley should never overlook the fact that all the people of Manipur are common citizens of the State.

"The State Government has been restraining itself because it does want any bloodshed among our own brothers.

Civilians of the State are very much annoyed by the activities of UG groups even though they cannot speak it out," Ibobi stated.

Referring to the famous saying, people are water and revolutionaries fishes, Ibobi asserted that no fish would survive when there is no water.

He also appealed to all UG groups to refrain from carrying out anti-people activities in public places.

In his first stop of the inspection tour, Ibobi made an assessment of the ongoing Sanjenthong construction work.

Then, he inspected the construction work of JNIMS administrative block.

The Chief Minister was infuriated by what he saw there.

He called and castigated the special contractor engaged for the construction asking if he (contractor) was scheming the spoil the career of medical students for four years.

Even as the contractor offered to complete the construction work by March next year.

The Chief Minister rejected the offer and gave strong-worded instructions to complete the construction work by December this year.

Ibobi next stop was at Mantripukhri where is new Secretariat is being constructed.

Ibobi was accompanied by Works Minister Kh Ratankumar and PWD Chief Engineer Lokendro.
