Imphal, July 12 2025:
The BJP Heingang Mandal has put the blame on Congress Legislature Party leader Okram Ibobi for many of the issues facing Manipur today, and given a clean chit to N Biren Singh for rectifying alleged wrongdoings of the previous Congress Government.
Four Panchayat Blocks in the Imphal West district - Koubru Leikha, Kalapahar, Toribari and Santalabari Parasain were included under the Kangpokpi ADC by O Ibobi.
These blocks were brought back to the fold of Imphal West by BJP's N Biren Singh Government, said the BJP Heingang Mandal.
Further, the SoO agreement, signed with foreign militant leaders, was scrapped by the N Biren Government.
The Myanmar militant leaders were allowed to enter and stay here by then Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, claimed the Mandal, listing several issues it said were results of the past Congress Government.
It was the Congress Government which included the controversial "Any Kuki Tribe" under the ST list, while the Biren-led Government's Cabinet took a decision on October 19, 2018 to delete it from the ST list, said the Mandal.
In addition, the Biren Government on February 8, 2023 had written to the Ministry of Tribal Affairs to delete "Any Mizo (Lushai) tribe" and change it to "Mizo" only, it added.
It was also Biren's BJP-led Government and the Centre that implemented Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) in Manipur, and removed the draconian Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) 1958 from the jurisdiction of 19 police stations, the Mandal said.
The Congress didn't build a single RCC bridge along the Imphal-Jiri road while Biren's Government built three bridges - Makru, Barak and Irang, claimed the Mandal.
The Congress fenced only 4 kilometres of the 398 Km long border with Myanmar.
Under the BJP, work has been initiated to fence the entire length of the border.
Further, the Government has removed the Free Movement Regime (FMR) and carried out drives to collect biometrics of illegal immigrants, asserted the Mandal.
