Imphal, August 11 2024:
August 15 is a day of jubilation for the people of mainland India but for the people of Manipur and WESEA, it is a day of mourning.
According to a statement issued by ASUK publicity committee convenor S Mangal, India has been following a policy of expansionism right from the first day of its birth.
India was not a country but a mere geographical expression (sub-continent) when British colonists arrived in the region.
India used all available means including treachery, deceit, coercion, bribery, kidnapping, blackmail and even military force to execute its policy of expansion, ASUK alleged.
This was how India annexed Travancore, Kamatapur/Koochbihar, Tripura, Manipur, Junagarh, Hyderabad, Kashmir, Goa and Sikkim, it said.
Even today, Indian leaders have not given up their policy of Expansionism.
RSS/BJP leaders are dreaming of a mega empire called 'Akhanda Bharat' encompassing Myanmar, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Tibet which is a part of China, ASUK remarked.
It said that Indian imperialism is paving the way for a world war.
The imperial centre of India is the 'Hindi Heartland' and Indian imperialism has advanced from 'occupation of land to the occupation of being', it said.
WESEA is a part of India in letter/theory but the region is not a part of India in attitude or practice.
Whether WESEA is included in the political life of India is another grey area, it said.
There are many people in WESEA who have accepted the alleged colonial rule.
Politicians/political leaders and the affluent people belong to this group of people.
At the same time, there are many people who see mainland Indians as wiser, stronger, more industrious, more courageous, more civilized and richer.
This stage indicates completion of the colonization of the mind, ASUK said.
The level of dependency is so deep that people have a tendency to vote for the party which is in power at Delhi.
People now see politicians who can beg more from Delhi as better politicians, it said.
"Even though we have been colonised, we must resist the colonial rule.
We must correct the false narrative of India and uphold our true narrative", it asserted.
Indian Independence Day is a false narrative which does not have any connection with the people of WESEA, it said.
ASUK then announced a total shutdown on August 15 from 6 am to 6 pm.
The total shutdown would be relaxed for emergency services, fire service, water supply, medical, religious functions and education,
it added.
