Government act tough on criminal mob, but forget to deal with minor victim

Imphal, October 10 2019: It was heinous of the heinous crime, committed not only to the married woman, but to the 9 years old daughter of the lady who was judged by an uncivilized mob at Upokpi Khunou in Bishnupur district.

Thanks to the state government for its quick response to the mob culture by the state government law enforcing agency.

All together 14 of them who were involved in such mob act were arrested and are in the process of awarding punishment as per the law of the land.

But the government machineries seem to have forgotten is that, the minor girl child is not only equally traumatize by that incident of October 6, but has been triple times traumatize remembering that incident.

The video, that went viral on social media quite for some time showed the mental state of that girl child.

However, what surprises is that the minor girl child was left with her father and was used by any visitor who actually wanted to know about the incident.

The situation was found out when a team of Women Action for Development (WAD) visited Upokpi Khunou yesterday to collect reports of the incident.

During a meeting with media persons at WAD office today afternoon, Mk Saroj Khan, a volunteer of WAD said that the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Bishnupur did went to the family and met the girl child .

The CWC Bishnupur is likely to meet the minor girl again likely by tomorrow to provide her counseling and other service which ever required, he added.

The incident happened on October 6 and the child has been left without any professional counseling till today, the Oct.

10, this means that the girl child is exposed to all form of trauma for 5 days.

Nobody knows what her paternal members including her father could have treated her as she had tried to save her mother when the mob attacked.

She has been called by the locals of her father residence to tell the incident which should not have been done.

Many times Psychiatrist Dr.Lenin had stated that minors with growing mind are prone to suicidal tendency if they are disturbed.

The situation witnessed by the volunteers of WAD showed that the government, while trying to act to assure that rules of law exist and nobody can escape from the rule of law, they have forgotten that saving the child victim is also guaranteed under the law of the land.

The WAD also demanded speedy punishment of the RIMS staff who had raped a minor girl inside the ECG room by booking him under POCSO.
