The security convoy also included the Chief Minister's BMW car which N Biren would ride in Jiribam.
As the advance security team was moving along Imphal-Jiribam highway toward Jiribam this morning, they came under heavy attack as they were taking a U-turn just before reaching K Sinam village, located a few kilometres away from Kotlen at around 10.30 am.
Using sophisticated weapons, the Kuki militants attacked the security forces from three directions.
The Kuki militants also shouted many expletives taking the name of Meitei, said one security personnel who was travelling in the convoy.
In addition to a security personnel, one civilian driver who was requisitioned by the security team sustained bullet injury on the back side of his right shoulder.

Soon after the attack, the suspected Kuki militants fled from the spot.
Reinforcement teams of State Police Commandos, Assam Rifles and CRPF personnel rushed to the ambush site and launched a massive search operation.
Although four bunkers built by Kuki militants were burnt down in the course of the operation, there was no report of any arrest.
As additional security forces reached the ambush site, no one was found in the surrounding villages.
They were found inside a nearby CRPF camp.
High ranking officers of Manipur Police are also presently stationed at New Keithelmanbi.
