Imphal, May 10 2026: A mass protest held today at Langthabal Thong Amanbi, Imphal West urged the Government of India to launch an extensive military crackdown against Kuki militants (both SoO and non-SoO) .

The protest demonstration was held under the aegis of Poirei Eeta to exert pressure on the Government to bring an end to the three-year-old violent crisis and restore peace in the State.

The protesters used placards which read as "Government of India must immediately stop Kuki militants from killing innocent people and burning houses", "Book and punish all the culprits involved in the Tronglaobi and TM Kasom killings" etc .

Speaking to the media, Poirei Eeta vice-president Thiyam (ongbi) Padma Leima, while pointing out that Kuki militants have been unleashing widespread and sustained violence targeting innocent people, urged the Government of India to launch an effective military crackdown against both SoO and non-SoO militants.

She also urged the Government to take up concrete steps immediately so as to resettle all the people displaced by the violence.

Padma Leima warned that the mothers of Manipur will not remain silent if their demands go unheeded.

Members of AMUCO, Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur, AMAWOVA, MSF and COHR too participated in the protest demonstration.
