Imphal, April 09 2009: Along with hoisting the flag of CPI candidate for the Inner seat Dr M Nara at its Kwakeithel residence today, the election campaign of the party has been intensified.

The flag of the party depicting a bunch of paddy with sickle was hoisted by Dr Nara amidst religious rituals.

After the flag hoisting ceremony, the CPI candidate accompanied by other party leaders toured different parts of Imphal West, Imphal East and Bishnupur district for election canvassing.

Addressing a public meeting held as part of the election campaign at Kumbi in Bishnupur district, Dr Nara reiterated that the upcoming Lok Sabha election is a crucial election that would decide the fate of the State.

So none of the voters should stay away from exercising their Constitutional rights of electing their right representative.

He further observed that it is high time for all the leaders of the political parties to think over and understand how the present state of affairs prevailing in Manipur today has come about.

It is not time for the political leaders to hurl charges and blame each other with an eye on getting more votes but to ponder over and start working for bringing about a revolutionary change in the society.

He went on to say that if the leaders at the helm of the power who are supposed to lead the people are insincere, lack will power and sacrificial spirit, then the society would automatically sink.

So in the upcoming election the people should judiciously exercise their voting rights and elect an able representative, he appealed.

MLA of Kumbi A/C N Mangi, who also addressed the meeting, noted that the people of Manipur are today fully aware of their Constitutional rights and what are the works that the political parties or their leaders have accomplished for the welfare of the State is something that are well known to everyone.

In such a condition, CPI feels it is worthless to indulge in mudslinging during election time and has consciously avoided from speaking out against any political parties.

Inspite of that leaders of some political parties who are used to low politics have been targeting CPI without knowing that it is party which makes no discrimination on caste and creed and dedicates itself to the cause of the poor and marginalised section of the society, the MLA said.

Stating that the ills afflicting the State today is the legacy of the wrongs done by the pseudo-leaders who got elected in the past through unfair practices, MLA Mangi asserted that CPI had never resorted to such unfair means.

Moreover, CPI is not a political party which is greedy of power and the most glaring example for this is the resignation of the CPI leaders from their Ministerial posts when ceasefire agreement between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM) was extended to Manipur in 2001 and the withdrawal of support from the UPA Government by the CPI led Left parties over the issue of the controversial nuclear deal recently, he added.
