Imphal, November 08 2025: BL Santosh, National general secretary (organisation) of the BJP, is expected to visit Manipur on November 12 to meet party MLAs, leaders, office bearers and intellectuals and discuss the prevailing situation in the State.

During his visit, the BJP leader will assess the party's situation in Manipur and discuss the reinstatement of a popular Government, which is currently under suspended animation, said a well placed source According to the source, BL Santosh will meet Kuki MLAs in Churachandpur and Meitei, Naga, and Muslim MLAs in Imphal.

It is reported that the BJP leader will assess the steps the party should take regarding the issues in Manipur, its prospects for the 13th State Assembly election which is due in 2027, as well as the organisational condition of the party in the State and the alleged lack of coordination between the party MLAs and the President's Rule Government.

The source continued that BL Santosh's proposed visit to Manipur assumes extra significance as he had assured to visit the State after the Bihar elections when the BJP MLAs raised the issue of forming a popular Government during a meeting with him in Delhi.

Manipur may witness a change in its political landscape after the BJP leader goes back to Delhi following meetings with party MLAs and office bearers.

According to the source, BL Santosh will take inputs from the party MLAs and office bearers, and their opinions seriously.

The source also said that the BJP will get a new National president, and in Manipur, a major change could be seen in the organisation including replacement of BJP Manipur unit president A Sharda Devi after the results of the Bihar elections are announced on November 14 .

Reportedly, four to five people are in the race for BJP Manipur president post.

Even though the term for BJP president is three years, A Sharda has been serving as the president of BJP Manipur unit for over four years.

The source added that there is also a possibility of the BJP Central leadership appointing a party MLA or Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba as the next president of BJP Manipur.

Another source, however, said that a popular Government will be formed first this month (November) before appointing a new party president of Manipur.

Whether a popular Government will be reinstated or not will be decided after BL Santosh's visit and assessment of the opinions of party MLAs and office bearers, the source added.
