Imphal, September 08 2025:
Displaced people of Moreh, Churachandpur and' Kangpokpi burnt the Independent People's Tribunal Report of the People's Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) at a relief camp at Akampat today.
Rejecting the IPT Report on the Manipur conflict in its totality, the displaced folks at the Ideal Girls' College said, the PUCL shall bear the responsibility of all eventualities and unrest its "one-sided" report may bring.
Leishangthem Inaocha, one of the displaced persons, said the report demonises one community and has potential to cause further unrest in the already strife-tom State.
The PUCL's report, published on August 20 at Press Club of India, New Delhi, has courted sharp criticism from different sections.
"As someone who witnessed the burning of the houses and the attacks on innocent civilians, I strongly condemn the report.
We don't know where the PUCL got its report from.
It is certain that they didn't go to the actual sites where the violence first started," Inaocha said.
The publication of the "one-sided report" when the Government is taking up all efforts to bring normalcy is very unfortunate, he added.
The report, while demonising a community, paints the other as victims.
Such a conclusion will not help restore normalcy and peace, he said.
The displaced persons said the Government of India and the Government of Manipur should ban the PUCL for the publication of the irresponsible report.
