An army recruitment rally was flagged off today from the complex of 14th Assam Rifles of Lairouching, Senapati district by GOC 57 Mountain Division Maj Gen EJ Kochekkan.
The rally scheduled to continue till October 11 is being participated by about 2000 prospective candidates.
The rally organised for Senapati and Tamenglong districts was for recruitment of youths in army general duty service and other technical and civil duty services.
Addressing the candidates before the rally was flagged off, Maj Gen EJ Kochekkan said that the recruitment rally was organised by the army taking into account the acute unemployment problem in the State and the high potential and talent of the youths of Manipur.
Asserting that the recruitment would be based purely on merit, the GOC cautioned against any middleman or touts.
He also categorically instructed the candidates not to resort to any kind of unfair means.
Speaking to reporters on the occasion, DDG (Recruiting) North East, Brig Gopal Mathur said that such recruitment rally would be organised for all other districts after every six months.
According a warm welcome to Maj Gen EJ Kochekkan, the people of Senapati district presented cultural dance and music prior to the rally.
The function was also attended by MLAs Henry Paote, Thangminlen Kipgen, high ranking civil and police officials and leaders of different communities.
