Imphal, September 06, 2010: Newly constructed buildings of Lamlong Hr Sec School, Wangoi Hr Sec School and Ram Lal Paul Hr Sec School have been inaugurated by Education Minister L Jayantakumar today.

These new buildings were constructed under Special Plan Assistance 2007-2008 at the cost of Rs three crores each.

These projects costing Rs three crores each included a three-storey school building, two hostels, two staff quarters, two toilet complexes, one VIP parking lot and compound fencing.

Inaugural functions of the new buildings held at the three schools separately were graced by the Education Minister as chief guest.

At Lamlong, the inaugural function was attended by Additional Director of School Education CB Paudyal and Principal of the school L Rameshwari as president and guest of honour respectively.

At Wangoi, former Chief Minister W Nipamacha was the guest of honour and Wangoi A/C MLA Salam Joy was the president.

The inaugural function at Ram Lal Paul Hr Sec School was presided by retired PWD Chief Engineer E Binoykumar.

Speaking at the inaugural functions, Jayantakumar said that teachers cannot take education in any light manner as an Act has been already enacted to provide free education to all children which would be followed by introduction of common class XII examination at national level by scrapping board exams.

Given the evolving scenario, teachers need to focus more on their profession and concentrate on enabling students of the State to compete with students of other States.

Assuring that the Government would be providing all requisite infrastructure, Jayantakumar asked what the teachers would give in return.

The Government has been expecting teachers to groom each and every children into competent and qualified citizens of the State, Jayantakumar said.

School students rounding up UG cadres coming to extort money from schools was surprising new change.

Those coming for extortion evolved into their present position because they were not groomed properly when the time was right.

The failure to groom those youngsters properly is a major shortcoming of the society, he lamented.
