Imphal, January 04 2008: In two separate incidents of violence that took place at different places in the valley district today, two suspected cadres of the KCP (MC) have been shot dead by unidentified persons while two PREPAK suspects have been slain by security forces.

The two individuals suspected to be cadres of KCP (MC), according to police source, were shot dead at Koutruk Lairou under Lamsang police station.

Of the two, one was found shot dead on an embankment near a paddy field along the road from Koutruk to Kadangband to the East of Kharam Bethel village.

He was wearing a light coloured lungi and a white jacket embossed with the word 'Ventura'.

One of his legs had been amputated above the knee.

He appeared to be about 35 years of age.

Two crutches and a slipper were found near the corpse.

The other corpse was found a little distance away on the same embankment.

He was wearing grey trousers and blue jean jacket.

He appeared to be about 30 years of age.

The spot where the corpses were found shot dead is about 12 kms North West of Lamsang police station.

Both the corpses which have bullet marks on the head have been picked up by police and deposited at RIMS mortuary.

Local villagers said that they heard gun shots at about 7 am today in the direction of the spot.

On the other hand, two UG suspects were slain in a reported encounter with a combined team of security forces above Ishok Chingphu hills in Bishnupur district under Wangoi police station at about 1.20 pm today.

The encounter ensued when a combined force of Imphal West commandos and troops of 12 Maratha Light Infantry, acting on specific information, moved in the area, informed a police source.

Two suspected PREPAK cadres were killed in the shoot-out.

One Chinese hand grenade and one .32 pistol with two live rounds from the slain individuals.

The corpses have been deposited at RIMS mortuary.

Deceased identified: The identity of the individual shot dead by Thoubal police commandos during an encounter at Yairipok Yambem Iroilok last morning has been established. He was PLA's Sgt Major Sagolsem Ibohanbi alias Kadamba (30) s/o Khohi of Uchiwa Wangma Litan Makhong.

He joined the proscribed PLA about 12 years back.

The corpse has been claimed by family members after post mortem at Lilong PHC today.

The corpse of RPF/PLA's bail-out Yengkhom Surjit alias Thembung (28) of Sandrok Makha Leikai shot dead by a combined forcea combined force of Imphal East commandos, a combined force of Imphal East commandos, troops of 32 AR and 115 Bn BSF during a reported shoot-out at Sanjenbam Kambongput under Lamlai police station last morning has also been handed over to family members after post mortem examination at RIMS today.
