Pledging that he would provide no room for violence in the State, Chief Minister O Ibobi has conveyed his desire to settle all outstanding issues and misunderstandings through peaceful dialogue saying that Manipur is today an inseparable part of India.
The Chief Minister was speaking on the occasion of National Re-dedication Day observed at 1st Bn MR ground here.
The observance was in remembrance of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi who was assassinated by two of her bodyguards on October 31, 1984 .
The death anniversary was observed today as the day (October 31) coincided with Ningol Chakkouba this time.
Addressing the observance attended by Ministers, MLAs, the Chief Secretary, the DGP, top ranking Government officials and students, O Ibobi who is also in charge of Home Department asserted that the State of Manipur is a part and parcel of India.
Even if there were any contentious issue or misunderstanding, the same may be resolved through dialogue in a democratic manner, otherwise no room would be provided for violence, stated the Chief Minister.
He further said that all the people should pledge together to fight collectively any attempt to disintegrate India.
Strongly condemning the acts of violence perpetrated in the State, Ibobi noted that people need to be always alert under such circumstances.
In addition, such acts of violence have been posing a great hurdle to the pace of development in the State, he stated.
"India is our country and all the people living in the country its free citizens" iterated Ibobi while observing that the time is right to recall the momentous responsibility shouldered by Indira Gandhi who laid down her life for the unity and integrity of India as well as Manipur.
Although she sensed the lurking threat to her life, Indira Gandhi, as a great leader, fought unto last without wavering from her stance, claimed Ibobi.
Determined as she was to safeguard the integrity of the country, her efforts to establish cordial relationships with many countries and the several policies and programmes taken up under her leadership for the welfare of backward classes/communities are all examples of her lofty ideals of sacrifice, described Ibobi.
