Dimapur, August 03: Responding to the news item "IM men defect to K", dated July 24, 2008 published in an Imphal based newspaper The Sangai Express, Zeliangrong Region CAO Lungchaibi Golmei of the NSCN-IM said that it "desires to put at rest the unfounded controversies pronounced by some unprincipled persons, in the interest of the Zeliangrong peoples, the Nagas and their immediate neighbour at large".

The NSCN-IM CAO while issuing a statement through the outfit's MIP said on Sunday that Karuchang Phaomei "inspite of his poor knowledge and personal weaknesses the Zeliang-rong elders had generously proposed to the government for his appointment as regional leader and CAO subsequently".

The NSCN-IM leader also advised that Karung chang Phaomei should not lose his memory in such a short period of time, for the NSCN-IM does not extort nor has it has given up the issue of sovereignty, as alleged otherwise.

The statement of the outfit also said that the Zeliangrong peoples are the witness to the activities of NSCN- IM and NSCN-K "because they represent them in their respective governments".

It is to be noted that neither NSCN-IM nor NSCN-K is working against the unity of Zeliangrong peoples, added the statement of NSCN-IM CAO of Zeliangrong Region Lungchaibi Golmei.

"And Mr Aching Kamei had previously held the post of regional APO deputy AG and then Deputy Secretary, Chaplee Affairs.

While considering the interest of Zeliangrong workers the govt has been kind enough to elevate him (Karuchang) amongst the lots to such a prestigious post and posting inspite of his poor qualification.

And the NSCN freedom movement is not on groupism, clannism neither involves in Indan politics nor meddle in contract works as blatantly alleged by Aching," allegedly Lungchaibi.

The NSCN-IM CAO of Zeliangrong Region then stated that the NSCN-IM and the Zeliangrong Region in particular are "surprised by their sudden shift of allegiance, despite of reaping maximum benefits from the GPRN but at the same time NSCN is at ease to be relieved of such unscrupulous' persons".
