Rally marks three years of crisis

Marking the completion of three years since the crisis began in Manipur, a rally was held today from Nambol Sabal Leikai to Kodompokpi Lamkhai Organised by the United Protection Committee (UPC), Nambol, the rally was participated by a large number of people from five Constituencies viz Konthoujam, Nambol, Oinam, Naoriya Pakhanglakpa and Wangoi, who, in unison raised several demands such as "Implement NRC before census", "Save Manipur", "Resettle the IDPs", "Withdraw Central security forces from Manipur", "Penalise perpetrators of the Tronglaobi bomb attack and ambush near TM Kasom", "Eliminate Kuki narco-terrorists", "Stop the proxy war", and "We want peace" .

Following the rally, floral tributes were offered at Nambol Keithel in honour of the people and children killed by Kuki narco-terrorists since the onset of the crisis on May 3, 2023 .
Speaking to the media, UPC convenor Th Lamjing-ba emphasized that the rally was not against the Manipur Government but aimed at highlighting the suffering of the people and demanding justice for the victims of the conflict.
The people stand behind the State Government, he said, adding that the Government, however, must demonstrate to the Kuki narco-terrorists that the rule of law is in place.
The Govt must step down if it is unable to protect the people and their properties, he said.
Expressing concern over the growing number of civil society organisations in Manipur, he called for a unified movement to protect the integrity of the State.
He urged the people of Manipur to stand united during this difficult period.
