Imphal, October 02 2010:
As the Kasom Khullen road has been damaged badly, movement of heavy vehicles carrying timber and firewood along the said road would be restricted with effect from October 5, announced chairman of Kasom Khullen Sub-Division Development Association Jojo Robertson in a statement.
Robertson explained that the decision to ban entry of heavy vehicles, particularly those carrying timber and firewood., has been taken during an executive committee meeting of the Association on October 1 in consideration of the worsening condition of the road whose existing pavement has been damaged badly.
Movement of heavy vehicles carrying timber from Kasom Khullen and Indo-Myanmar border has caused depression and wheel ruts along many stretches of the road, he pointed out.
However, heavy vehicles carrying sand, stone, bricks, essential commodities, etc would be relaxed from the purview of the restriction, the Association said, adding that it would announced the decision of free passage of all types of vehicles once the road condition improves.
