BJP MLAs hold closed door meeting

Imphal, September 02 2025: A closed door meeting of key BJP MLAs, former Ministers and leaders was held today at the official quarters of Mayang Imphal AC MLA K Robindro at Babupara.

Altogether 14 BJP MLAs viz including Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Thokchom Satyabrata (Yaiskul), Thongam Biswajit (Thongju), Yumnam Khemchand (Singjamei), Thokchom Radheshyam (Heirok), Kh Joykisan (Thangmeiband), K Robindro (Mayang Imphal), Lourembam Rameshwar Meetei (Keirao), Th Arunkumar (Wangkhei), Dr Y Radheshyam (Hiyanglam), T Robindro (Thanga AC), P Brojen (Wangjing Tentha), S Kebi (Naoriya Pakhanglakpa), Md Ashab Uddin (Jiribam) and Kh Raghumani (Uripok) attended the meeting which began at around 11 am continued till just over 3 pm .

It is reported that some BJP MLAs skipped the meeting despite receiving a prior invitation, with some citing health grounds as the reason.

According to reports received by The Sangai Express, the meeting held threadbare discussion on the measures being taken by the authorities in Manipur in anticipation of a WIP visit this month and the speculation surrounding the Prime Minister's visit.

The meeting also discussed what BJP MLAs could do in the interest of the people of Manipur if the Central Government's initiative to restore normalcy by engaging with stakeholders from the warring communities yields positive outcomes.

The reports also stated that the meeting unanimously agreed to support forming a popular Government in Manipur.

The gathering also discussed convening another meeting soon in the presence of other BJP MLAs who skipped today's meeting.

The source further stated that the BJP MLAs discussed the possibility of forming a popular Government ahead of the speculated Prime Minister's visit in the second week of this month.

However, a BJP leader, on condition of anonymity, said that they have not received any information from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) or the party's National office regarding the Prime Minister's visit.
