SDSA had appealed to all the Government employees in its jurisdiction to refrain from attending their respective offices barring those engaged in flood relief and other related activities.
Meanwhile, with the launching of the two-day 'People's Movement', ANSAM president has urged the Government of India to revoke the scrapping of the FMR and stop the "imposed border fencing construction in Naga homeland".
Addressing the media at Tamenglong District Headquarters, the ANSAM president drew the attention of the United Nations, Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO) and self determined countries of the world while stating that the Nagas who have their own unique history, land and people are facing various threats due to the "sinister policy" of the Government of India underestimating the Nagas' rights, land and history.
With the support of the United Naga Council, Naga Women's Union, units of ANSAM and Tribal Hohos, ANSAM undertook this office picketing movement in the hill districts of Manipur in unison against the scrapping of FMR and the border fencing construction in Naga homeland, he added.
He urged the Indian Government to respect the Framework Agreement signed with the "Naga Nation" and immediately reinstate FMR in Naga ancestral land and stop the border fencing.
Stating that they cannot accept the "divisive policies" of the Government of India, he said India should respect the legitimate rights of the Naga people.
Additionally, the Naga People's Organization (NPO), Senapati has fully endorsed ANSAM's 48-hour picketing of Government offices on June 2 and 3.A press release issued by the Information & Publicity secretary of NPO on Monday said that the protest is a collective stance against the scrapping of the FMR and border fencing.
NPO stands in solidarity with the aspirations and rightful concerns of the Naga people, it added.
