Imphal, February 02 2022: Chief Minister N Biren Singh has categorically stated that the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman aims at poverty reduction and uplifting the living standard of the poor.

Speaking to the media at BJP office at Nityaipat Chuthek today, N Biren continued that the Budget also includes construction of over 80 lakh houses for the poor.

Saying that there are many families in the State who cannot repair their houses, the Chief Minister added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to solve this common problem in Manipur.

The Budget 2022 also reflected on the need to boost infrastructure presence through Atmanirbhar Bharat to generate employment opportunities and to use drones in assessment and fertilization in the farming sector, he added.

Maintaining that India occupies the third largest spot in mobile phone industry, N Biren continued that the Centre is striving to tap the creative and innovative ideas of the youth by boosting domestic manufacturing and reducing imports under Make in India.

Further stating that the Prime Minister considers Micro Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as the growth engine of the Indian economy, N Biren said that over 1 lakh youth of the State are given employment by this sector (MSMEs) alone.

N Biren said that the Union Budget includes several measures for the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector such as opening of emergency credit facilities for the convenience of loanees and to warrant tax relief.

"Now is the digital world," the Chief Minister said and added the Budget also includes a provision to establish a digital university in the country.

Allocation for Startups has been increased three fold by the BJP led Government apart from hiking the public investment to Rs 7.5 thousand crore as compared to Rs 1.27 thousand crore pegged during the regime of UPA Government, N Biren said.

Increasing the public investment will be beneficial to the youth, he added.

The Chief Minister continued that the BJP has also built over 50,000 kms of National Highway in the last seven years in North East as compared to 70,000 km built before the BJP came to power in 60-70 years.

The Budget contains a provision to encourage self employment too by focusing on technical education system, he said and added that the Centre also allocated funds to boost internet connectivity in rural areas by installing optical fibre.

Apart from these, the Central Government has laid ground to roll out 5G mobile internet service, N Biren said and continued that the Centre has allocated Rs 1,500 crore to improve livelihood activities in the North East region, Rs 560 crore to upgrade RIMS and another Rs 129 crore to set up cancer treatment infrastructure in the North East region.

The Centre has also announced the Guwahati and Silchar gas line project, he added.

Saying that the Union Budget will play a pivotal role in improving the Indian economy and living standard of the citizens, the Chief Minister lauded the Prime Minister and Union Finance Minister for their visions to take India to great heights.
