Imphal, September 01 2025: Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Thokchom Satyabrata called on Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla today amid speculation surrounding a potential visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Manipur.

The meeting, which took place at Raj Bhavan and began around 4 pm, lasted around 30 minutes and centered on the formation of a popular Government in Manipur.

The Governor and the Speaker also discussed the possibility of the Prime Minister visiting the State for the first time since the ethnic crisis erupted in Manipur on May 3, 2023 .

According to reports, the Governor is scheduled to depart Imphal for Delhi tomorrow.

According to a highly reliable source, the Prime Minister will definitely visit Manipur this month.

Well-placed sources indicate that renovation work is underway on an urgent basis at Kangla, Imphal, and Churachandpur in preparation for high-profile meetings, which will be addressed by the Prime Minister.

It is further reported that the Prime Minister is expected to review initiatives aimed at resolving the crisis, resuming free movement on highways, and facilitating the resettlement of internally displaced people (IDPs) .

The source added that a popular Government may be formed after the Prime Minister's visit.
