Drugs worth Rs 350 Cr seized

In a major breakthrough, Mizoram's CID (Special Branch) and Special Narcotic Police Station staff seized a massive consignment of illegal drugs during a joint covert operation along the Zemabawk-Seling stretch today around 3 pm .
Acting on credible intelligence developed through technical surveillance and sustained fieldwork, the team intercepted a white TATA YODHA pick-up truck (Registration No MZ01X 5782) carrying mithun and driven by one B Lalthanzuala (45), son of T Johana, a resident of Republic Mual Veng, Aizawl.
Upon discreet search of the vehicle, the team uncovered a hidden compartment beneath the cargo bed, where the contraband was concealed.

The recovered items included 20.304 Kgs of Crystal Methamphetamine (20 packages), with an estimated street value of Rs 300 crore and 1.652 Kgs of Heroin (128 soap cases), valued at Rs 49,56,000 This seizure is being considered one of the largest and most sophisticated drug busts in Mizoram in recent times.
The total value of the recovered Crystal Methamphetamine and Heroin is around Rs 350 crore.
At Tripura the Border Security Force (BSF), in a joint operation with Jatrapur Police, seized 14,000 Yaba tablets and apprehended three suspected individuals in the Salpokhar area close to the border.
Acting on specific intelligence received during the early hours, a BSF team swiftly mobilized and cordoned off a red Chevrolet Aveo LS car and nearby premises in Baspokhar.
Upon the arrival of Jatrapur Police, a joint search was conducted, resulting in the recovery of 70 packets containing 14,000 Yaba tablets, valued at approximately Rs 1.4 crore.
Three individuals - Sarfraj Ahmed (Meerut, UP), Jubair (Moradabad, UP), and Nazrul Islam (Cooch Behar, WB) - were apprehended from a nearby house.
The contraband and the suspects were handed over to Jatrapur Police for further legal action.
