Imphal, November 30: A combined force of Imphal East police commandos and personnel of 32 Assam Rifles gunned down two suspected militants of the PULF today at about 11.50 am at Keirao Awang Leikai Ningombam Loukon located about four kilometres from Irilbung police station.

One AK-56 rifle along with six bullets, three empty cases, one 9 mm pistol with two bullets and one empty case were recovered from the slain youths.

The identities of the two are yet to be established and one was attired in a foam jacket (black coloured), one black T shirt and one pale brown trouser and one Nike embossed chappal.

He also wore a ring each on the ring finger and middle finger of the right hand.

The deceased received multiple bullet shots on the right thigh, back side and neck.

The other was found attired in a full sleeved black shirt, one red coloured red T shirt, one Hawaii chappal and a trouser.

The impact of a bullet has blown away the lower portion of the jaw and bullet wounds were visible on the back side, neck, stomach and waist.

According to sources, the two may be Md Sikander son of (L) Adin of Urup Muslim and Md Raokhan son of Gur Khan of Keirao Mayai Leikai.

However the identities are yet to be verified officially.

Lilong police have retrieved the bodies and deposited them at RIMS morgue.

Shot dead : Unidentified gunmen shot dead a youth at the paddy field of Oinam Sawombug Lamkhai under Wangoi Police Station at around 6 pm today.

The slain youth whose identity is yet to be established appeared to be around 25 years of age.

He was found clad in a jean pant and jean shirt.

There was one fatal bullet wound shot from the back of his head.

Police have picked up the body and deposited the same at the mortuary of RIMS here for identification and post-mortem examination.

Body fished out : The body a male was fished out from Jiri river near Lakhipur Kamakhya located about three kms north east of Jiribam police station today at about 9 am.

According to reports received from the police, the legs and hands of the deceased was found tied.

The deceased was found attired in a half sleeved black coloured shirt, a Bermuda shorts and is bearded.

The body has started decomposing, said police and added that it would be handed over to the Jiribam Municipality for disposal.

Providential escape : A 38 year old housewife had a providential escape when a bullet which penetrated the wall of her house grazed her left elbow, while she was sleeping along with her children at Sekmaijin under Mayang Imphal police station yesterday at about 10.15 pm.

The woman is identified as Leishangthem ongbi Binashakhi Devi (38) wife of L Ranjit.

According to the local people, they heard the loud report of gun shots from the direction of Sekmaijin Turel Wangma where a Shumang Leela was in progress.

The woman was given first aid at RIMS today.

Mishap claims woman : A 45 year old woman passed away after a Tata tipper ran over her at North AOC today about 8.30 am.

The incident occurred while the woman who was riding a Honda Activa was first knocked down by a Shaktiman and before she could get up she was run over by the Tata Tipper which was coming behind her.

The profusely bleeding woman was rushed to Raj Poly Clinic at AOC but she soon passed away.

The deceased is identified as Waikhom ningol Bimo of Thoubal Achouba Loukhommayum Leirak.

She was however staying at the 2nd MR campus at the time of her death.

The body has been handed over to family members after post mortem at RIMS morgue today.
