Imphal, August 31 2026: In a significant decision towards improving health infrastructure in Manipur, the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, JP Nadda has agreed to upgrade RIMS (Regional Institute of Medical Sciences), Imphal to the status of AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) .

JP Nadda gave an assurance to this effect during a meeting with Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand at New Delhi today.

The Chief Minister expressed his profound gratitude to the Union Minister of Health for his assurance to improve the health sector in the State.

Nadda also agreed to approve the proposal for the establishment of a new Medical College at Senapati in the State.

Notably, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during a meeting with Y Khemchand Singh on August 26, had agreed to lay the foundation stone of Senapati Medical College in the first week of October this year.
