Imphal, June 30 2009: In a major blow to the United Naga People's Convention (UNPC), a split away faction of the NSCN (IM), the outfit's president, finance secretary and another cadre have been apprehended by Imphal East commandos.

Moreover, a self styled high-ranking officer of the KCP has also been arrested along with a computer set by a combined team of Imphal East commandos and troops of 28 AR.

Parading the arrested individuals together with th seized articles at District Police Hqs today, , Imphal East SDPO Laishram Birababu said that S/S UNPC president Pairson alias Jairus Shishak (31) of Khamasom, Ukhrul district, S/S finance secretary Yangkahao Singlai (54) s/o late Apheling of Leihaoram village, Ukhrul district and Reithan Keishing (19) s/o Johnson of Leihaoram village were apprehended from New Checkon at about 9.25 this morning.

On questioning, Pairson disclosed that he joined the outfit in June 1999 while Yengkhohao and Reithan claimed that they joined the party in January this year.

On the other hand, combined team of Imphal East commandos and troops of 28 AR apprehended a self-styled high ranking officer of the KCP from Khongman Mangjil at about 1 pm today.

The KCP officer has been identified as Khuraijam Ajit alias Khamba Luwang alias Ningamba (42) s/o Chaoba of Kwakeithel Makha Thokchom Leikai.

A press release clarifying non-involvement of KCP in the murder of MU Proctor Prof Islamuddin and other drafts were recovered from the computer seized from Ningamba's possession, added the SDPO.
