Nambul breaches at Samusang Shantipur

Even as the floodwater has started receding at several places, the bank of Nambul River got breached at Samusang Shantipur area while a portion of the retaining wall on the bank of the same river at Kakhulong areas got damaged, today.
The western side of Nambul River was breached at Samusang Shantipur at around 1 pm today.
It is reported that the volunteers of Arambai Tenggol and locals of Samurou mended the fissure late in the evening.
The place where the river got breached was also inspected by Mayang Imphal police and another team led by Wangoi SDO.
As per the locals, some fish farms which are close to the fissure on the river bank have been completely inundated by the water seeping out from Nambul River and many fishes have escaped.

There is no report of residential areas getting flooded when this report was filed.
It may be mentioned that the bank of Nambul River at Samurou Makha Leikai was also breached on May 29 at around 9.15 pm .
Meanwhile, the place where the retaining wall got damaged was on the road adjacent to Kakhulong under Sagolband AC.
People also shared a clip of the retaining wall of Nambul River at Kakhulong areas slightly tilting toward Nambul River and the road beneath the wall collapsing on social media.
A person was heard appealing to the relevant authority to take up necessary action and repair the wall before the floodwater does more damage to it.
It is reported that Sagolband AC MLA RK Imo and Government officials have inspected the condition of retaining the wall.
