Security personnel arrested at least five persons from Churachandpur including three Chin Kuki Mizo Army (CKMA) for alleged involvement in drug trafficking over the past two days.
Arms and ammunition were also seized from their possession.
According to a bulletin issued by Police Control Room (PCR) late last night, the three cadres of CKMA were arrested on April 28 for their alleged involvement in drug deals across the border from Phaisat in Myanmar and they have been identified as Lunkhohau (48) of Kuwan, Sangaikot, Churachandpur; Jamhon Haokip (30) of Leajangphai Churachandpur and Ngamboi Mate (28) of Laijang Churachanpur.
All three of them are from Churachandpur.
From their possession, security forces seized one AK-47 rifle along with two magazines and fifty live ammunition, one country made 9mm pistol along with one magazine and five live ammunition, one single shot rifle alone with 15 rounds of live ammunition, three Baofeng radio sets, two mobile phones and others.
The CKMA cadres have been handed over to Beihang police station along with the seized items.
Manipur police arrested another two drug smugglers from Churachandpur along with 331 soap cases containing heroin powder from Valveng under Churachandpur Police Station yesterday (April 29) .
The duo identified as Ciinkhalun (29) of Vengnuam, Churachandpur and Vungtansang Munlou (36) of Suangdoh Village, Churachandpur district have been handed over to Churachandpur police station along with the heroin.
The control room further said that a large cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from various places in the last 48 hours.
From Phaileng Village in Kangpokpi, two SLR guns along with two magazines, one 9mm carbine machine gun along with a magazine and one locally made gun were seized.
Security personnel also recovered three 12 bore single barrel guns, one .303 sniper rifle, one 9mm pistol with a magazine, two hand grenades, 10 rounds of 7.62x39mm live ammunition, five tear smoke shells and some protective gears from the foothill of Chingkhei Ching range under Porompat police station.
More arms and ammunition were also recovered from Hiyanglam Mayai Leikai in Kakching, Kadangband and Kangchup Chingkhong under Lamsang police station, Yairipok Singa area in Thoubal, Kwakta Ward no 4 in Bishnupur, Nachou in Bishnupur in the last 48 hours.
